Osem storočí Slovenskej heraldiky = Eight centuries of Slovak heraldry

Heraldry, the system of armorial symbols, has been international in scope since its beginnings in the twelfth century. While the rules for creation of heraldic symbols were generally universal, regional differences in conditions gave rise to a rich variety of artistic expression in the depiction of national and family crests. This beautifully illustrated edition traces the development of heraldry in the territory of Slovakia from the pre-heraldic period of the sixth to the tenth centuries to the twentieth century.
